The Mobile Chapter of Executive Women International (EWI) awards ASIST scholarships every year to women in transition that are back to school to pursue a degree and fulfill their educational goals. This year 3 local students got the ASIST Scholarship in a dinner activity held at the Gulf Coast Chapter of the Red Cross building. EWI is an international organization and in Mobile it is represented by over 25 companies. Members that represent these companies are committed to the community, their careers and improving their business connections. As part of their activity, funds are raised for scholarships, for an annual children’s reading rally, both locally and in the site of the annual national meeting and other community activities. In the picture, from left to right are Susan Embry, President Executive Women International, Mobile Chapter, Dr. Jamie Ladnier-Hicks, speaker of the night and Mobile teacher of the year, Calvatina Hampton, Nicole Hudson, Shalonda Spencer and Lynn Tullos, from the Airport Authority, member of the scholarship committee who managed the program of the night. Nicole Hudson who is pursuing an Associate Degree in Nursing from Virginia College of Mobile got a $3,000. Scholarship, Shalonda Spencer a Psychology student at Springhill College got a $2,000 scholarship and Calvatina Hampton, also at Springhill College studying Secondary Education got $1,000.
